The Lake Pontchartrain Women's Sailing Association 2017 Pink Ribbon Regatta is a story of survival. Pre-Katrina, LPWSA members Darlene Sintes and Elaine Boos decided to make a rather grand gesture for a friend suffering through the treatment for breast cancer. They showed their love through sailing. The Pink Ribbon Regatta was born, dedicated to their friend. Not only did their friend survive but their gesture is still alive and doing well too -- having raised well over $100,000 for early detection and treatment.

In 2016, the 12th Pink Ribbon Regatta raised $15,623.00, all of which stayed in the community, going to the Louisiana Breast and Cervical Health Program (LBCHP). LBCHP's mission is to prevent unnecessary disease, disability and premature death by providing quality breast (and cervical) cancer screenings at no cost to uninsured, underinsured and lower income women in Louisiana.

This year the Pink Ribbon Regatta is on October 7. Sailors will have a chance to buy down their boat's handicaps, making their boats more competitive through their donations. However boats will also be scored in a normal manner. A fast boat can win both ways, by speed and generosity.

We need your help to assure our silent auction will be chock full of fantastic art, gift cards, services and one-of-a-kind items. Click here for a donation form. Music, fantastic food and fun will be in abundance. Enter the Miss Ready About! sailor beauty pageant. The winning contestant will be determined by their talent to collect donations along the runway. Fundraising will end with a live auction -- followed by the regatta results.
