This all women’s regatta consisted of 3 windward leeward races for the spinnaker class and a steeplechase for non-spin. Three members of Lake Pontchartrain Women’s Sailing Association competed in this regatta. Debbie Ellis Griffin, also a member of PBYC, was calling tactics and navigating aboard non-spin boat Coquina (Capri 26) and took first place in their class. Lynn Gildersleeve, also a member of PCYC, trimmed main and Elaine Boos, also a member of SYC, drove spinnaker A boat Forerunner (J105) taking 2nd in class and 3rd in fleet.

FGRITZ GIRLZ ON THE ROAD The GRITZ GIRLZ took the show on the road 7/16/05 to Point Yacht Club
at Pirate’s Cove in Josephine, AL for the Fast Women Regatta, taking
spinnaker class second place by only 11 seconds. On 7/23/05, the GIRLZ
took first in spinnaker by 7 seconds and also won top all female team in
the Navy Yacht Club’s Bikini Regatta in Pensacola. GRITZ’s first place
crew consisted of Kristen Smith, Margie Offan, Elaine Boos, Debbie Ellis,
Leanne Green, Julie Bylsma, and Dee Mollenkopf. The GRITZ GIRLZ are back
on the road Aug 6 for Pensacola Beach Yacht Club’s Race for the Roses.

WOMEN'S US MATCH RACING CHAMPIONSHIP
After a long wait for the wind to fill in, Liz Baylis defeated
Carol Cronin's Team Atkins 2-0 in the light air finals of the US Women's
Match Racing Championship at the Southern Yacht Club in New Orleans.
However, because Baylis had already qualified for the Women's Match Racing
Worlds in Annapolis in early June, Team Atkins was awarded that spot. In
the Petit-finals of this ISAF Grade 3 event, Hannah Swett bested Sally
Barkow. -

WOMEN'S
MATCH RACING WORLDS Sundsvall, Sweden - Local sailor Malin Millbourn from Sweden
won the ISAF Women's Match Racing World Championship by dispatching Marie
Bjorling, ranked first in the ISAF Women's Match Race rankings, 3-1 in the
semi-finals.
Millbourn then and faced Lotte Meldgaard Pederse in the finals. After
going 2-2, Millbourn won the final race by the smallest of margins and
with it took the World Championship title.
